A great deal of progress has been made on campus to improve teaching and learning. In recent years and as a response to
action by the University Senate, a campus-wide set of guidelines for the evaluation of courses and instructors has been
developed. Besides providing guidelines for academic units to create their own web-based systems, i.e., departments have this
choice, a new campus-wide evaluation system, i.e., the Purdue Instructor Course Evaluation Service (PICES) was created, thus
replacing the previously used CAFETERIA system. In fall 2009, the PICES system transitioned to an online format. Access to
online course evaluations and evaluation results are available on the
CourseEval site
Departments and instructors are encouraged to use a wide array of tools and strategies for assessment and evaluation of their
curricula, individual courses and teaching by their instructors throughout the semester. Contact the Center for Instructional
Excellence (CIE) for information for more assistance in this area.
